They wanted to satisfy their desire to go shopping in shops but paying with best prop money, banknotes so well that it was difficult to notice at first sight. Deceived the first traders, we had taken pleasure in "spending and spreading", as they say, but probably they made some mistake too much and were discovered. The protagonists of this incredible story, a group of children from the Alto Ionio Cosentino who have been denounced on the loose by the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Corigliano Calabro.
It all began a few weeks ago, when some traders of Trebisacce and Roseto Capo Spulico had reported having received as consideration for the goods purchased best prop money, but of excellent workmanship, so much so that they did not initially notice their inadjustment.
The investigations of the military of Roseto were immediately aimed at acquiring video surveillance images and obtaining from the victims a precise description of the fraudsters. Soon it was traced back to some of these identified in some minors of the place. Unsuspected subjects, very young and uncensored. The boys had repeatedly shopped in the area shops paying with fake banknotes, from clothing, to electronics to other.
After a search of the house of one of them – a 16-year-old from Corigliano but resident in Albidona -, once cornered he confessed everything by spontaneously delivering his mobile phone, through which it was not difficult to trace all his accomplices – other very young people from Rossano, Oriolo and Trebisacce -, as well as identify the "source" from which the counterfeit banknotes departed: the producers of the best prop money were a 42-year-old woman and her 18-year-old son, both residents of Naples.The investigators, given the collaboration of some members of the gang, decided to tighten the circle around the m
oderni imitators of the great Totò in the film "La banda degli onesti": they waited for the receipt of a last package of counterfeit money, ordered on the internet, managing to identify the "senders", precisely mother and son, and seize, before other traders were scammed, another 1,100 fake euros sent through a postal package.
The military also ascertained that the group of young people had ordered via the web, in various tranches, as many as 5,000 euros, in denominations of 100, 50 and 20 euros, many of which had already been spent in shops in the Upper Ionian Sea. The young people had received a first tranche of money (1,650 fake euros), paying 500 euros.
For the five boys, therefore, the complaint was taken on the loose to the prosecutor's office of minors in Catanzaro. The accusation is of spending and introducing fake coins. The two
